Handling Drone Videos

Guide to managing your drone videos with metadata subtitles.

Step 1: Set Up Your Drone

Drone videos typically don't contain metadata by default. However, DJI allows you to enable a feature that creates an additional subtitles track, enriching your videos with valuable metadata for each second of footage.

Activate subtitle feature on your drone

Drone models vary in their handling of subtitle data: some incorporate it directly into the video file, while others produce separate .SRT files.

Step 2: Navigate and Upload

  1. Start by navigating to the Drone media analysis page within the application.
  2. Use the "Upload" buttons to select your files. You can choose one or multiple files, depending on how many you need to upload.

For Embedded Subtitles:

The application will process the videos, extracting the embedded subtitles and initiating the analysis. Video processing is resource-intensive, so it may take some time.

For Separate .SRT Files:

If your drone generates separate subtitle files, you'll find an .SRT file for each video (e.g., DJI_0195.MP4 and DJI_0195.SRT).

  • Ensure you upload both the .MP4 (.MOV) and .SRT files simultaneously to keep the metadata linked with the corresponding video.
  • Maintain the original file names to help the application match the videos with the correct subtitle files.

After selecting your files, the platform will begin processing and analyzing your footage, unlocking a wealth of information from the metadata.

Step 3: Review and Insights

Once the system completes the processing, delve into the analysis! You'll find detailed insights derived from the metadata, enhancing your understanding of the footage and providing valuable context for every capture.
